Official Transcripts
To be considered official, transcripts must be received directly from the registrar's office of the institution the applicant previously attended or from the appropriate official agencies.

Enrollment
In order to enroll at Harrison Middleton University, a student must be accepted for admission and submit the enrollment agreement and applicable fees.

Applicants may accelerate the enrollment process by submitting the applicable fees and completed enrollment agreement with the application; however, this does not guarantee admission. If an applicant is accepted into the university, the application fee will be charged and is not refundable after ten calendar days; however, applicants who submit enrollment materials and are not eligible for admission will be refunded the full amount of fees paid.

Denial of Admission
An applicant may be denied admission if Harrison Middleton University determines that the university is unable to meet the educational needs and objectives of the applicant. If an applicant is denied admission, the application and enrollment fees will be refunded.

Transfer Credit General Policy
Harrison Middleton University defines extra-institutional learning as learning that is attained outside of accredited postsecondary education institutions. Students bring with them a wealth of learning from work and life experience, independent reading and study, the mass media, and participation in formal courses sponsored by associations, businesses, government, industries, military, and unions.

Harrison Middleton University recognizes the prior learning of admitted students by awarding credit for transfer courses completed at an accredited institution and documented through official transcript when the credit is applicable to the student's selected degree program.

Transfer Credits
The acceptance of transfer credits between institutions lies within the discretion of the receiving college or university. Credits earned at other institutions may or may not be accepted by Harrison Middleton University. Likewise, credits earned at Harrison Middleton University may or may not be accepted by another institution depending upon its own programs, policies, and regulations.

Students planning to complete credit elsewhere before applying to Harrison Middleton University are advised to contact the Admissions Office and check on the acceptability of credits from that institution. Likewise, any student relying on Harrison Middleton University credit for transfer to or enrollment in another institution is urged to check with that institution prior to enrollment at Harrison Middleton University.

Undergraduate Transfer Credit Policy
Undergraduate students pursuing an Associate of Arts in Humanities degree program may may transfer up to forty-five (45) credit hours from an approved institution(s), which may satisfy the subject matter, and curriculum requirements of students' degree programs at Harrison Middleton University. 

Undergraduate students pursuing a bachelor's degree may transfer up to ninety (90) credit hours from an approved institution(s), which satisfy the subject matter, and curriculum requirements of students' selected degree program at Harrison Middleton University.

Students can request to transfer credits when submitting their program of study proposal. Students need to provide appropriate documentation of the successfully completed course(s). Appropriate documentation includes official transcripts and a copy of the institution's catalog, syllabi, or course outline which includes summary information about the course(s) requested for transfer.

Credit by Examination
Harrison Middleton University accepts the recommendations of the American Council on Education (ACE) College Credit Recommendation Service as listed in the Guide to Educational Credit by Examination including Advanced Placement (AP) Examinations, College Level Program General Examinations (CLEP), American College Testing (ACT), and Regents College Examinations. Limits on Awarding Transfer and Extra-Institutional Credit for Undergraduate Students
An undergraduate student enrolled in the Associate of Arts in Humanities degree must complete a minimum of fifteen (15) credit hours at Harrison Middleton University in order to earn a degree.

An undergraduate student enrolled in a bachelor's degree program must complete a minimum of thirty (30) credit hours at Harrison Middleton University in order to earn a degree.

Harrison Middleton University does not accept experiential learning credits through Portfolio Evaluation for transfer.

Graduate Transfer Credit Policy
Graduate students pursuing a master's degree may receive a maximum of eighteen (18) hours of transfer credit for courses which satisfy the subject matter and curriculum requirements of students' selected degree program at Harrison Middleton University.

Graduate students pursuing a doctoral degree may receive a maximum of nine (9) hours of transfer credit for courses which satisfy the subject matter and curriculum requirements of students' selected degree program at Harrison Middleton University.

Harrison Middleton University reserves the right to accept or reject any or all academic credits offered for transfer.

Foreign Credentials
Harrison Middleton University accepts applications from individuals with credentials from non-U.S. institutions. Such applicants must first obtain an independent foreign credentials evaluation from Education Credentials Evaluators, Inc. (ECE), Post Office Box 92970, Milwaukee, WI 53202 (Telephone: 414.289.3400; Fax: 414.289.3411) or another independent U.S. evaluator approved by the university. Request forms and cost information are available at the ECE website, www.ece.org. Foreign undergraduate applicants must obtain a general evaluation, while subject evaluations will be required for individual transfer courses.

TOEFL Requirements
Applicants whose native language is not English and who have not earned a degree from an appropriately accredited institution where English is the principal language of instruction must demonstrate college-level proficiency in English through one of the following:

  • Undergraduate: A minimum score of 500 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT), or 61 on the Internet Based Test (iBT), a 6.0 on the International English Language Test (IELTS) or 44 on the Pearson Test of English Academic Score Report.
  • Master's Degree: A minimum score of 530 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT) or 71 on the Internet Based Test (iBT), 6.5 on the International English Language Test (IELTS) or 50 on the Pearson Test of English Academic Score Report.
  • First Professional Degree or Professional Doctoral Degree: A minimum score of 550 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT), or 80 on the Internet Based Test (iBT), a 6.5 on the International English Language Test (IELTS), or 58 on the Pearson Test of English Academic Score Report.
  • A minimum grade of Level 3 on the ACT COMPASS's English as a Second Language Placement Test;
  • A minimum grade of Pre-1 on the Eiken English Proficiency Examination;
  • A transcript indicating completion of at least 30 semester hours of credit with an average grade of "C" or higher at an appropriately accredited*/recognized accredited college or university where the language of instruction was English; "B" or higher for Master's, First Professional Degree, or Professional Doctoral Degree.
  • A transcript indicating a grade of "C" or higher in an English composition course from an appropriately accredited*/recognized college or university; "B" or higher for Master's, First Professional Degree, or Professional Doctoral Degree.
  • Undergraduate Only: A high school diploma completed at an appropriately accredited/recognized high school (where the medium of instruction is English).
